Julia Maryanska, Video Director & Editor

Julia Maryanska (she/her) is a filmmaker, media activist and community builder based in Sonoma County, CA. Born in Poland of Jewish Heritage to a lineage of political activists, and growing up as a millennial in the U.S. facing mass extinction, climate change, #MeToo, and general systems collapse, she has drawn inspiration from her international studies of ecologically regenerative communities to create story-based media to contribute to the movement for systems change.

Julia began making films in 2006 while studying International Affairs and Art at Skidmore College. She has since co-produced films alongside Award winning filmmakers spanning subjects from Dzogchen Buddhism to Wikileaks. Her (co) directorial debut is the forthcoming documentary film, LOVE SCHOOL, a letter to her daughter about her own journey of learning love, featuring the revolutionary Peace Research Village called Tamera in southern Portugal.

Julia is a co-founder of the media collaborative Re/Culture Media telling stories for a regenerative culture. She is a trilingual lover of language and myth, and trained as a Master NLP practitioner as well as a practitioner of circle ways (dynamic governance, council, circling).

Now, as a woman in her mid 30s, and as a mama, she hears the cry of sacred rage within her and around the globe for the mistreatment, control and exploitation of the female body as well as the Earth body. As a media maker, Julia holds a commitment to uplift female voices and feminine perspectives to help society rebalance in the time of this great turning (ref. Joanna Macy).
